Protectors of our Realms

them mangey varmits...

***Nevens Across the Realms***...what they wear, how they fight, how they live...

Neven is a title earned and applies to all people volunteering to serve their Realm in one way or another.

There are Public Nevens that are split into three levels.  First being the High Nevens coordinating the movements of lower enforcement Nevens and guarding the Royal City and Royal State of Serlan and they also deal with justice in the High Court. Second, and more flexible, are the Traveling Nevens who have a territory to patrol in which they apply their superior talents in protection and the law. Or there are Local Nevens to handle everyday chaos and problems such as bar brawls, or to help out in general such as resolving a minor dispute over land.

As for Private Nevens these are the temporary volunteers [Neven] or the spies (Neven).  Neither of these last two Nevens can acknowledge their private titles out loud with out loosing their usefulness and their titles, when Neven is spoken as a person's title he/she is a Public Neven, all Private Nevens assume the temporary titles the Tiran bestow upon them for their missions.

People we know who are involved with Nevens or who are Nevens:

Sora- She is a Traveling Neven of Sperin

Ralun- A High Neven of Sperin

Teyl- A (Neven) of...Rillain... we believe

Aesha- A Traveling Neven, not done with her training, from Caharn

Ferani- Walks among them as Geno of Perna (though few know it)

  • Perna:

Wears- Shirt (Molded white leather midriff) for protection of heart and flexible movement in the air, Shorts (Softened white leather less than half way to knees) for decency and protection of lower major arteries, overcoat (Cloud Silk with sewn in Feran stone and as many Cloud Worms burrowed in as you can stand) wraps smoothly around in a spin to cover whole body cavity and protects continued use of weapon by covering arms, a sash (any sturdy soft sash two arm lengths long from your hometown weaver or market place) ties into a securing loop to slide a blade into then tightens to secure it, weapon (foot long needle-like 'blade' with only a sharpened end, wide ring around it an inch from the hilt, metal end gaurd on hilt which is shaped for a sound grip, and the metal is 'tempered' with CW vapor) it's knob keeps it in the sashes loop durring flight and a quick tug outward releases it for battle it is also smooth sided to prevent self-harm and keenly pointed for easy slashing of in-air vital spots (wings, back muscles, heart, stomach, neck, arms, hands) the vapor melded into the blade do harm to sinners more than noble humans and asisit in harming those who have it coming and the metal end peice on the hilt allows for non-fatal wounding of the prey via a head blow. *note* gravity plays a large part in all air battles and Pernan Nevens make use of this possible ally. Also, shoes are choosen or worn by choice, but are always recomended.  There is prestige in a heavier coat because that indicates more Cloud Worms and more bravery, faith, and purity in the Neven.  It is a sign of disrespect or mistrust for a Neven to wear their overcoat closed at a public occation and to close their overcoat in front of the Host is a deeper sign of lack of trust or respect.

Sign of Nevenship- Single silver earing (goes through two sequential holes in ear lobe) the head and tail are showing while the shaft is mainly behind the earlobe.      >>-)      (-->

  • Sperin:

Wears- not sure yet

Sign of Nevenship- gold/bronze plain band ring, quarter inch wide, rounded (think of the one ring except no letters, less glowing and with a flat circle pressed into the top) the flat top of the ring bears four claw marks engraved in it.

  • Caharn:

Wears- shirt (cream colored billowy shirt with loose cuffs and a volumptuous high collar with lots of material), pants (billowy ginger pants gathered at waist and ankles with a mulititude of pockets), coat (ginger colored long vest that goes down half way to their knees), with a belt (buckles around waist, not hips, and goes over everything including the long vest), shoes (suede calf-high boots of tan with soft but thick soles), weapons (double bronze daggers in forearm sheaths that can slide out into the hands readily, are the squiggly wicked looking type as opposed to the straight plain ones. the one on the left side is traditionally poisoned.), also a bandana (cream colored and wide to wrap over head to protect from heat).  They also carry a full healer's set of vials of poisons and antidotes in their pants pockets.  Also, their hair is necessarily cut to less than two inches long when they are initiated so that the wind storms cannot use it against them.

Sign of Nevenship- stone donut shape, hand carved by Neven before initiation and kept on a leather cord around their neck in most cases, stone provided by Council of Nevens so as not to be too easy or hard a task to carve it.
